The trouble I've just had trying to cancel my BT landline to move it to Virgin. The BT bastards just wont give up! Same when I told O2 I wasn't going to extend my contract. Both scousers as well. In the end I gave up. But I will return to fight them another day

Re: if you cancel sky tv....
All the people saying they are rip off cunts etc, you do realise it costs money make tv shows and employ thousands of staff don't you? If you don't pay the £80 per mth how else are they meant to do this (aside from advertising).

£2-£3 per day. What's reasonable then, half that?

Or should we all get free tv from the tv fairy?

Re: if you cancel sky tv....
Sky should give it away for free to everyone, the pisstaking cunts.

How dare they charge money to watch Premium channels!

Re: if you cancel sky tv....
I cancelled Sky over 3 years ago. I haven't missed it once. I was happily paying what had crept up to about £80 per month without thinking about it, but suspended it during a house move, went into temporary accommodation for 3 months without it and realised I was paying for something I didn't need or use.
There's so many FreeView channels now I can always find something to watch, especially after getting a digital recorder.

I've 'saved' about £3,000 in the time since I cancelled it. I can't say I've done anything specific with that money, but I'd rather I got to spend it on something I actually wanted or needed than give it to those rip off merchants.

Obviously id like to pay less but as has been said, £2-3 a day isn't bad value.

Re: if you cancel sky tv....
Ijust have a very basic package to include History & Geography channels. Can't remember what I pay but it's not a lot, about £15 a month I think

I don't bother with Sky Movies as there are so few good films made nowadays ~ like the music it's largely crap & gets repeated ad naseum

I'm only interested in watching West Ham so it's not worth having Sky Sports ~ There are so many very good free streams these days for our matches that I watch most of them live through the TV (HD lead from Lidl)

If there's a big match that I miss or particularly want to watch again I can always get a pirate CD

I know ~ I'm a skinflint but I object to paying through the nose when I can get something cheaper!

Stubbo... agreed.... the Ryder Cup was the thing that would have got me back... that was until I found a crystal clear HD site (NBC) on my android box... was actually better than SKY sports... I have got the basic HD package (£35) and that's it now...

Re: if you cancel sky tv....
Agree Sky not really worth it...only thing I miss is the golf...if I want to watch West Ham just go down the pub. But lazy Sunday evenings in front of the golf isnt the same on a grainy, stuttery standard definition stream.

Give them a call penners. I'm sure they'd be happy to up your bill if you think you're being undercharged.

Re: if you cancel sky tv....
I find it odd when people knock sky. They provide excellent value for money in my opinion. Multiple channels for what, £2-£3 a day?

I'd pay double personally. People need to realise that things cost more money nowadays.

Marston Hammer 6:50 Mon Oct 13
Re: if you cancel sky tv....
Sky disconnected last night. Rang up today to get the half price deal, £34 a month for everything.

Cheers for the advice, just saved me about £400 for the year.

Re: if you cancel sky tv....
NS - There's a few SKY HD streams out there but you have to pay for them and not quite top quality. Much better quality are the beIN Sports HD streams which tend to have most of the stuff on Sky anyway.
